Capital Campaign - Big Success for SMHC

This year SMHC will make the transition from completing a major capital campaign to growing a practice that can deliver an exceptional standard of care for high-risk patients with multi-diagnosed complex medical conditions.

For over 35 years we provided care to tens of thousands of patients in a refurbished warehouse that was never intended as a medical facility. We needed a larger, quality space to meet an expanding demand for our comprehensive health service program.

Now after more than a decade of planning and development we are close to completing our capital campaign. The construction which started in January of 2009 is scheduled for completion in October 2010. The unprecedented success that we have enjoyed with this project would not have been possible without the selfless service and contributions of so many of our friends and volunteers.

In addition to the generosity of many individual donors, this project has received strong support from a host of local and national charitable foundations and corporate giving programs. Grants were provided by the City of San Francisco and the US Department of Health and Human Services. Financing the debt service loan is NCB Capital Impact, North California Community Loan Fund and U.S. Bank Community Development Corporation.  South of Market Health Center's equity contribution was $1 million.
